The Organization
The Delta Communicators, inc came into being on March 1987 when it was officially registered with Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of the Republic of the Philippines.
In May of 1973, a group composed of civic minded young men and women found it necessary to fight drug abuse through preventive information campaign. With the help Constabulary Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) and the mentors of the Far Eastern University, the Drug abuse rehabilitation network, inc Youth Civic Action Service (DARNYCAS) was organized. The organization quickly spread to other colleges and universities in Metro Manila gathering a total membership of 4,000 student.
In 1978 DARNYCAS with the aid of the Citizen Band (CB) Radio expanded outside Metro Manila, establishing its first chapter in Tarlac City. The following chapter were based at Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Olongapo, Pangasinan, La Union, Ilocos Sur, Laguna, Isabela, Tgaytay and Baguio City.
When the ban for the use of the CBs was implemented in january of 1981 all chapter had ceased to operate. But the member of the Tarlac Chapter tried to shift to the use of the VHF but the cost of the unit was expensive at that time and very few could only afford. These members did not give up their hopes but exhausted all means to keep the organization active and regained its strength with the recuitment of fresh member and thus establishing a network stronger and more permanent radio, organization with its official registration with SEC under the name, Delta Communicators, inc., Delta being the acronym for Disaster, Emergencies and Land Traffic Assistance.
The Mission
- To assist in bridging communications to government agencies during emergencies and in community based operations where information gathering and reporting is essentially required.
- To help alleviate the lives of the Filipino Community by providing food, clothing, relief goods and medical assistance during rescue operations in times of calamities, disasters and emergencies.
- To receive and report all important and validated SMS text reports to government and non-government agencies in accordance with its social responsibility and commitment in maintaining peace order for the protection and welfare of the Filipino people.
- To assist the PNP and AFP by acting as a force multiplies in the prevention of crime, graft and corruption, terrorism and subversion.
- To enhance altruistic brotherhood among all its members and other organization of the same endeavor.
